The manual of life : Self confidence
he purpose of this short book is to inspire people into doing things they never thought
possible just due to lack of confidence. Confidence is the person’s belief in his own
abilities that no matter what the situation he will get over it. My mother once said
“Taking birth and dying are the only two hard things in life, rest all is just
inconvenience”.
People lacking in self confidence lose lot more than they can imagine, from best of jobs to
best of relationships to the best of life, they live in a constant fear of losing, so much that they
lose.
This book is not about motivation, because as I have attended many lectures from the best of
motivators in the world, and yet I lost the zeal to act as soon as I was out of the room. And I
was surprised because till the time I was in that seminar room I felt like they were holding me
back from “action” so why was that happening? I did some research and this is what I come
up with.
Motivation is merely an positive affirmation on the mind exerted by the speaker, that says “
you can do it” it is a part of the hypnosis science which you don’t have to understand in
detail, for now it means that whatever is being told to you repeatedly your mind tend to
believe that. The power of repeating is so great that, if a timid man were to repeat aloud
for a few minutes daily, with earnestness and concentration, a list of words such as
courage, valor, bravery, gallantry, intrepidity, manliness, pluck, backbone, and audacity,
he would shortly find these qualities being incorporated in his own personality.
But there is a problem with motivation, while it can start short term action, it doesn’t last, it’s
almost like a tree without root, it might look green, but it won’t last long. I believe part of the
reason is because motivation does not explain “why “you can do it. Self confidence on the
other hand lasts life long, because it is what grows from inside your mind, and tells you
perhaps why you can do it.
